What's the story behind the community's name?

According to their website, "Our Alabama Oaks location originally accommodated an overflow of visitors to the famous Alabama Hotel, our neighbor down the block. As guests aged over the years, many decided not to return North, and, eventually, the property evolved into an elder care facility."

Alabama Oaks also has a large, majestic oak tree adjacent to their building. We highly recommend driving there for a look if you haven't seen it already.
